The movie is based on Prince of Egypt by Dorothy Clarke Wilson Pillar of Fire by J. H. Ingraham On Eagle s Wings by A. E. Southon Book of Exodus. Cecil B DeMille production was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Cecil B. Demille. The movie is directed by Cecil B. Demille. Paramount Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the movie. The Ten Commandments was released on 5th October 1956 and takes a screen time of 220 minutes. and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released. The Ten Commandments was made on a budget of $13 million and at the box office it grossed only $1 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by Aeneas MacKenzie, Jesse L. Lasky Jr., Jack Gariss and Fredric M. Frank. Cinematography was done by Loyal Griggs and editing by Anne Bauchens. The music was composed by Elmer Bernstein.
