In the city of Bethlehem, a baby is born and visited by Magi, while in Jerusalem, a wealthy Jewish prince named Judah Ben-Hur faces betrayal by his friend Messala, leading to his familys imprisonment and his own enslavement as a galley slave, until he is rescued and later seeks revenge, only to find redemption and forgiveness through a miracle witnessed at Jesus crucifixion. Ben-Hur is a 1959 American English-language Adventure Drama film featuring Charlton Heston, Jack Hawkins, Haya Harareet, Stephen Boyd, Hugh Griffith, Martha Scott and Nazzareno Zamperla. The movie is based on Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ 1880 novel by General Lew Wallace. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Sam Zimbalist. The movie is directed by William Wyler. Loew s acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. Ben-Hur was released on 18th November 1959 and takes a screen time of 212 minutes. Ben-Hur was made on a budget of $100 million and at the box office it grossed only $94 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by Karl Tunberg. Cinematography was done by Robert L. Surtees and editing by John D. Dunning and Ralph E. Winters. The music was composed by Mikl S R Zsa.
