In 1980s South Boston, a young police officer goes undercover to infiltrate an Irish Mob bosss crew, while simultaneously the mob boss recruits a spy in the Massachusetts State Police, leading to a dangerous game of betrayal, deception, and eventual downfall for all involved. The Departed is written by William Monahan, Alan Mak and Felix Chong and it is directed by Martin Scorsese. Warner Bros. acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. The Departed was released on 12th October 2006 and takes a screen time of 151 minutes. and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released and became successful at box office. The Departed was made on a budget of $90 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $291 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by William Monahan. Cinematography was done by Michael Ballhaus and editing by Thelma Schoonmaker. The music was composed by Academy Award Oscar winner Howard Shore. At the 2007 Oscar Awards It won 4 awards including: Best Motion Picture of the Year, Best Achievement in Directing, Best Writing, Adapted Screenplay and Best Achievement in Film Editing.
