L.A. Confidential is a 1997 American English-language Crime Drama movie starring Kevin Spacey, Russell Crowe, Guy Pearce, James Cromwell, David Strathairn, Kim Basinger and Anne Zogby. The movie is based on L.A. Confidential by James Ellroy. Regency Enterprises in association with The Wolper Organization. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Arnon Milchan, Curtis Hanson and Michael Nathanson. L.A. Confidential is written by James Ellroy, Brian Helgeland, Curtis Hanson, Dan Kolsrud, Arnon Milchan, Michael G. Nathanson and David L. Wolper and it is directed by Curtis Hanson. Warner Bros. acquired the distribution rights for the movie. L.A. Confidential was released on 20th November 1997 and takes a screen time of 138 minutes. and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released and became successful at box office. L.A. Confidential was made on a budget of $35 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $126 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by Brian Helgeland and Curtis Hanson. Cinematography was done by Dante Spinotti and editing by Peter Honess. The music was composed by Jerry Goldsmith. At the 1998 Oscar Awards It won 2 awards including: Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Kim Basinger) and Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material Previously Produced or Published.
