Bharatham

A younger brother in the field of carnatic music gains fame while his elder alcoholic brother struggles with it, but everything ends well with the younger brother continuing the familys musical legacy. Bharatham is a 1991 Indian Malayalam-language Musical Drama film starring Urvashi, Nedumudi Venu, Lakshmi, Mohanlal Viswanathan, Kaviyoor Ponnamma, Lalu Alex and M.s. Thrippunithara. Pranavam Arts was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Mohanlal Viswanathan. Bharatham is written by Ambazhathil Karunakaran Lohithadas and A. K. Lohithadas and it is directed by Sibi Malayil. Seven Arts Release acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. Bharatham was released on 29th March 1991 and takes a screen time of 147 minutes. Cinematography was done by Anandakuttan and editing by L. Bhoominathan. The music was composed by Filmfare Award winner Raveendran along with Johnson. At the 1992 National Film Awards It won 2 awards including: Best Actor (Mohanlal Viswanathan) and Best Playback Singer (Male).
