An entertaining comedy film Jigarthanda features Siddharth, Bobby Simha, and Lakshmi Menon. Vijay Sethupathi was supposed to play the role Bobby Simha has played in the film but due to date issues, he rejected the offer. This 2014 Tamil film was written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj. When an assistant director is eliminated from a filmmaker's reality show he endeavors to make a film on gangsterism for which he follows a gangster and gets into trouble for snooping. The events that follow form the crux of the story. It was tastefully captured by Gavemic U. Ary and edited by Vivek Harshan. Santhosh Narayanan composed the music. It was released on 1 August 2014 and has a running time of 164 minutes. At the 2015 South Filmfare Awards received an award for Best Supporting Actor (Bobby Simha) and at the 2015 National Film Awards, the film won 2 awards including Best Supporting Actor (Bobby Simha) and Best Editing. The movie was made on a budget of ₹10 crores and it grossed ₹35 crores at the box office. The distribution rights were acquired by SMS Pictures and Kalasangham Films. A UA certificate for the movie was provided by the MPAA.
