The movie is based on Jacob the Liar by Jurek Becker. Blue Wolf Productions in association with Kasso Inc. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Steven Haft and Marsha Garces Williams. Jakob the Liar is written by Jurek Becker, Peter Kassovitz and Didier Decoin and it is directed by Peter Kassovitz. Columbia Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture.
