    • Owen Gleiberman

By this point, Pushing Tin has been purged of all dramatic sense, making you wish that Newell and company had had the gumption to finish what they so enticingly started. ( Read More )
    • Desson Thomson

I mean, that whole pandering ethos about ratcheting up a story until it fairly explodes with character over development, heavy handed symmetry, absurd coincidences and a compulsive need to make sure even a low IQ amoeba will get the point of every scene and get it good.Oh, and make sure the action movie lead makes up with his woman in time for the ending. These four characters are genuinely interesting.Russell is an enigma and likes it that way. ( Read More )
    • Marc Savlov

Written by Glen and Les Charles (of the television shows Taxi and M*A*S*H), the film has their ensemble feel all over it, but Newells rushed pacing in the third act botches the whole film. Its a glorious mess, though, with genuine bits of comic genius strewn amidst the rubble, not unlike a plane crash in its own way. • Mick LaSalle

Cusack is fine and often funny as a man slowly but surely melting down, and Newell places him in an environment depicted with dark humor but no condescension. ( Read More )
