A couple falls in love, gets married secretly, and faces challenges when their families find out, leading to their strained marriage, but they reconcile after fixing an alliance and Karthik learns the truth about his wifes accident. Alai Payuthey is written by Mani Ratnam and R. Selvaraj and it is directed by Mani Ratnam. Ayngaran International acquired the distribution rights for the film.
