A kindhearted singer falls in love with a mysterious girl, but when he confesses his feelings, he discovers she is waiting for someone else, leading to heartbreak and ultimately choosing to be with the man she was waiting for. Saawariya is a 2007 Indian Hindi-language Drama Musical motion picture featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Salman Khan, Rani Mukerji, Zohra Sehgal, Zohra Segal and Keneth Desai. The movie is based on White Nights by Fyodor Dostoyevski. SLB Films was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Saawariya is written by Fyodor Mikhaylovich Dostoyevsky, Prakash Kapadia, Vibhu Puri and Shailey Sharma and it is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Sony Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. Saawariya was released on 8th November 2007 and takes a screen time of 138 minutes. Saawariya was made on a budget of ₹45 crore and at the box office it grossed only ₹20 crore. Cinematography was done by Ravi K. Chandran and editing by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The music was composed by Filmfare Award winner Monty Sharma.
