The Trial of the Chicago 7

An interesting historical thriller The Trial of the Chicago 7 is about the trial of seven defendants who were charged by the federal government with conspiracy, instigating riots, and countercultural protest during the 1968 Democratic National Convention that took place in Chicago, Illinos. The film stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Sacha Baron Cohen, Daniel Flaherty, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Keaton, Frank Langella, John Carroll Lynch, Eddie Redmayne, Noah Robbins, Mark Rylance, Alex Sharp, and Jeremy Strong. The Principal photography began in October 2019 and it was directed by Aaron Sorkin. The film was produced by Stuart M. Besser, Matt Jackson, Marc Platt, and Tyler Thompson for Paramount Pictures, DreamWorks Pictures, Shivhans Pictures, Cross Creek Pictures, and Marc Platt Productions and was distributed by Netflix. Initially, Steven Spielberg was supposed to direct the film but due to the 2007 Writers Guild of America strike and budget concerns, he had to drop out and Aaron Sorkin took over as the director. The music was composed by Daniel Pemberton. Adept cinematography by Phedon Papamichael and clear cut editing by Alan Baumgarten makes it a watchable movie. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this movie which was scheduled to release in theatres by Paramount Pictures was sold to Netflix. The film was released on Netflix on 16 October 2020 and occupies a screen time of 129 minutes. An R certificate for the movie was provided by the MPAA.
