Smillas Sense of Snow

Based on Peter Hoeg s bestseller, this film is set in snowy Copenhagen where a small boy is found dead after he fell off a roof. Smilla Jasperson, a close friend who lives in the same house begins to suspect murder because she knows that the boy was afraid of heights and would not have played on the roof. As she begins to investigate, she is pulled deeper and deeper into a conspiracy that could very well mean her death. Written by Harald Mayr Smillas Sense of Snow is a 1997 English-language Crime Drama motion picture starring Julia Ormond, Gabriel Byrne, Richard Harris, Robert Loggia, Vanessa Redgrave, Jens Jørgen Fleischer and Lars Bjarke. The movie is based on Miss Smilla s Feeling for Snow by Peter H eg. Bavaria Film in association with Constantin Film, Det Danske Filminstitut, Greenland Film Production and Nordisk Film. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Bernd Eichinger and Martin Moszkowicz. The movie is directed by Bille August. SF Film/Filmcompagniet acquired the distribution rights for the film. Smillas Sense of Snow was released on 4th September 1997 in English and Greenlandic languages and takes a screen time of 121 minutes. Smillas Sense of Snow was made on a budget of $35 million and at the box office it grossed only $2 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by Ann Biderman. Cinematography was done by J rgen Persson and editing by Janus Billeskov Jansen. The music was composed by Harry Gregson-williams along with Hans Zimmer.
