1930s Korea, in the period of Japanese occupation, a new girl (Sookee) is hired as a handmaiden to a Japanese heiress (Hideko) who lives a secluded life on a large countryside estate with her domineering Uncle (Kouzuki). But the maid has a secret. She is a pickpocket recruited by a swindler posing as a Japanese Count to help him seduce the Lady to elope with him, rob her of her fortune, and lock her up in a madhouse. The plan ms to proceed according to plan until Sookee and Hideko discover some unexpected emotions. Written by CJ Entertainment Ah-ga-ssi is a 2016 Korean Korean-language Drama Romance motion picture starring Kim Min-hee, Kim Tae-ri, Ha Jung-woo, Cho Jin-woong, Jung Woo Ha, Jin-woong Jo and Seong-bong Ahn. The movie is inspired from Fingersmith by Sarah Waters. Ah-ga-ssi was Produced by Chan-wook Park, Park Chan-wook and Syd Lim. Ah-ga-ssi is written by Chan-wook Park, Park Chan-wook and Chung Seo-kyung and it is directed by Chan-wook Park and Park Chan-wook. CJ Entertainment acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. Ah-ga-ssi was released on 7th July 2016 in Korean and Japanese languages and takes a screen time of 145 minutes. Ah-ga-ssi was made on a budget of $10 billion and at the box office it grossed only $37 million. Cinematography was done by Chung Chung-hoon and editing by Kim Jae-bum and Kim Sang-bum. The music was composed by Jo Yeong-wook.
