Warner Bros. acquired the distribution rights for the movie. Honkytonk Man was released on 15th December 1982 and takes a screen time of 122 minutes. and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released and became successful at box office. Honkytonk Man was made on a budget of $2 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $4 million. Cinematography was done by Bruce Surtees and editing by Ferris Webster, Michael Kelly and Joel Cox. The music was composed by Steve Dorff.
