IFC Films acquired the distribution rights for the film. The motion picture made a box office gross of $8 million. Cinematography was done by Peter Zeitlinger and editing by Joe Bini and Maya Hawke. The music was composed by Ernst Reijseger. Werner Herzog gains exclusive access to film inside the Chauvet caves of Southern France, capturing the oldest known pictorial creations of humankind in their astonishing natural setting.
