During the German occupation of Guernsey in 1941, a group of friends forms a book club called The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society to avoid arrest, and years later, author Juliet Ashton becomes fascinated by their story and travels to Guernsey to learn more, ultimately finding love and a new life with society member Dawsey Adams.
