Rookie cop Denny Colt returns from the beyond as The Spirit, a hero whose mission is to fight against the bad forces in Central City. The Spirit is a 2008 American English-language Action Crime motion picture featuring Gabriel Macht, Eva Mendes, Sarah Paulson, Dan Lauria, Paz Vega, Scarlett Johansson and Foued Zayani. The movie is inspired from Spirit by Will Eisner. OddLot Entertainment was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Deborah Del Prete, Gigi Pritzker and Michael E. Uslan. The Spirit is written by Frank Miller and Will Eisner and it is directed by Frank Miller. Lionsgate acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. The Spirit was released on 25th December 2008 and takes a screen time of 103 minutes. The Spirit was made on a budget of $60 million and at the box office it grossed only $39 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by Frank Miller. Cinematography was done by Bill Pope and editing by Gregory Nussbaum. The music was composed by David Newman.
