In their final week before retirement, LAPD Sergeants Murtaugh and Riggs are demoted but work with their new partner Cole to track down an arms smuggling ring led by Travis, leading to a final confrontation that results in Travis death and the decision for Murtaugh to stay with the force and Riggs to reveal his relationship with Cole.
