A taxi driver in New York City, suffering from insomnia, becomes disturbed by the crime and decay in the city, leading him to form a connection with a campaign volunteer that ends badly, leading him down a path of intense physical training, gun ownership, encounters with a child prostitute, and a failed attempt at assassinating a presidential candidate, ultimately resulting in a violent act before slipping into a coma and later showing signs of agitation when encountering the campaign volunteer again. Taxi Driver is a 1976 American English-language Crime Drama film starring Robert De Niro, Jodie Foster, Albert Brooks, Harvey Keitel, Leonard Harris, Peter Boyle and Michael Phillips. Bill/Phillips Productions in association with Italo/Judeo Productions. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Julia Phillips and Michael Phillips. Taxi Driver is written by Paul Schrader and directed by Martin Scorsese. Columbia Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the movie. Taxi Driver was released on 8th February 1976 and takes a screen time of 114 minutes. and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released and became successful at box office. Taxi Driver was made on a budget of $1 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $28 million. Cinematography was done by Michael Chapman and editing by Marcia Lucas, Tom Rolf and Melvin Shapiro. The music was composed by Bernard Herrmann.
