A medical practitioner, volunteering in southeast Asia, tries to prevent a woman from being sexually assaulted. What happens as a result, makes him appear to the authorities as the instigator of a crime,, but afraid his story won't be believed, he tries to escape from the police. Shine International acquired the distribution rights for the television show. Creator of the series is Abi Morgan. River was released on 24th June 2016 and takes a screen time of 54-58 minutes for each episode. and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released.
