In 1898, Lt. Colonel John Henry Patterson is hired to build a railway bridge in Tsavo, Kenya, but faces challenges as lions begin attacking workers, leading to a series of failed attempts to protect them until Charles Remington arrives with Maasai warriors to help, resulting in the discovery that the lions are killing for sport and the eventual successful completion of the project. The Ghost and the Darkness is a 1996 American English-language Adventure Drama film featuring Michael Douglas, Val Kilmer, Tom Wilkinson, John Kani, Bernard Hill, Brian Mccardie and Stephen Evans. The movie is inspired from The Man-eaters of Tsavo by John Henry Patterson. Constellation Films in association with Douglas/Reuther Productions. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Gale Anne Hurd, Paul B. Radin and A. Kitman Ho. The Ghost and the Darkness is written by William Goldman and directed by Stephen Hopkins. Paramount Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. The Ghost and the Darkness was released on 6th February 1997 and takes a screen time of 110 minutes. The Ghost and the Darkness was made on a budget of $45 million and at the box office it grossed only $38 million. Cinematography was done by Vilmos Zsigmond and editing by Robert Brown, Roger Bondelli and Steve Mirkovich. The music was composed by Jerry Goldsmith.
