On the Greek island of Kalokairi, a young woman named Sophie invites three men who could potentially be her father to her wedding without her mothers knowledge, causing chaos as her mother is shocked to see her former lovers and demands they leave, while Sophie tries to figure out who her real father is and ultimately chooses Bill to give her away, leading to conflicts and revelations about her mothers past, but eventually her mother and one of the potential fathers, Sam, realize their feelings for each other, leading to a proposal and a happy ending at the wedding. The movie is inspired from Mamma Mia! by Catherine Johnson. Relativity Media in association with Littlestar Productions and Playtone. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Judy Craymer and Gary Goetzman. Mamma Mia! is written by Catherine Johnson and directed by Phyllida Lloyd. Universal Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the film.
