The movie is inspired from J. D. Salinger: A Life by Kenneth Slawenski. Black Label Media was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Bruce Cohen, Thad Luckinbill, Jason Shuman, Danny Strong, Molly Smith and Trent Luckinbill. Rebel in the Rye is written by Danny Strong and Kenneth Slawenski and it is directed by Danny Strong. IFC Films acquired the distribution rights for the film. Rebel in the Rye was released on 15th September 2017 and takes a screen time of 106 minutes. The motion picture made a box office gross of $0 million.
