The film depicts the early life of J. R. R. Tolkien, highlighting his academic excellence, close relationships with friends, and his romantic interest while under the guardianship of a local priest, as well as his experience in the First World War and eventual career as a professor and author. Tolkien is a 2019 American English-language Biography Drama movie featuring Nicholas Hoult, Lily Collins, Colm Meaney, Derek Jacobi, Al Bollands, Kallum Tolkien and Jimm Stark. Chernin Entertainment was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Jenno Topping, Kris Thykier, Peter Chernin and David Ready. Tolkien is written by David Gleeson and Stephen Beresford and it is directed by Dome Karukoski. Fox Searchlight Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the movie. Tolkien was released on 3rd May 2019 and takes a screen time of 112 minutes. Tolkien was made on a budget of $20 million and at the box office it grossed only $9 million. Cinematography was done by Lasse Frank and editing by Harri Yl nen. The music was composed by Thomas Newman.
