The movie is inspired from Gesundheit: Good Health Is a Laughing Matter by Patch Adams and Maureen Mylander. Blue Wolf in association with Bungalow 78 Productions and Farrell/Minoff. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Mike Farrell, Barry Kemp, Marvin Minoff, Charles Newirth and Marsha Garces Williams. Patch Adams is written by Patch Adams, Maureen Mylander and Steve Oedekerk and it is directed by Tom Shadyac. Universal Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the film. Patch Adams was released on 23rd December 2013 and takes a screen time of 115 minutes. The Film was successful at box office.
