Arunachala Cine Creations was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) K. Sathya Narayana, M. V. Krishna Rao, H. Vittal Prasad and P. L. Thenappan. The motion picture is written and directed by K. S. Ravikumar. Star Cinema acquired the distribution rights for the movie. Padayappa was released on 10th April 1999 and takes a screen time of 181 minutes. Cinematography was done by S. Murthy and Prasad and editing by K. Thanigachalam. The music was composed by Ar Rahman along with A. R. Rahman. At the 2000 South Filmfare Awards It won an award for Best Actress (Ramya Krishnan).
