A young man named Ragupathy leaves his town and befriends Vaiyapuri, securing a job interview, but trouble arises when Rajkumars family tries to kill him, leading to misunderstandings and a determination from Ragupathy to protect Rajkumar. Velaikaran is a 1987 Indian Tamil-language Comedy Action film featuring Rajinikanth, Sarath Babu, Pallavi, Amala Akkineni, Nasser, Ramasami V.k. and K.r. Vijaya. The movie is based on Namak Halaal. Kavithalayaa Productions was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Rajam Balachander and Pushpa Kandaswamy. The movie is directed by S. P. Muthuraman. Velaikaran was released on 7th March 1987. The screenplay for the movie was written by K. Balachander. Cinematography was done by T. S. Vinayagam and editing by R. Vittal and C. Lancy. The music was composed by National Award winner Ilaiyaraaja.
