A man named Kathiresan lives a simple life with his mother and stepfather who gets involved with a smuggler, while a separate event takes place. Dhandayudhapani Films was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Sandow M. M. A. Chinnappa Thevar. The movie is directed by M. A. Thirumugam. Dhandayudhapani Films acquired the distribution rights for the film. Manavan was released on 10th July 1970 and takes a screen time of 130 minutes. Cinematography was done by T. M.
