In ancient China, Cao Cao rises to power while Lingju, trained to assassinate him, falls in love with Mu Shun, leading to failed assassination attempts and tragic endings for both. The Assassins is a 2012 Chinese Mandarin-language Drama History motion picture starring Chow Yun-fat, Liu Yifei, Hiroshi Tamaki, Alec Su, Annie Yi, Qiu Xinzhi and Hongqian Wang. Changchun Film Studio was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Zhao Xiaoding. The Assassins is written by Wang Bin and directed by Zhao Linshan. The Assassins was released on 27th September 2012 and takes a screen time of 107 minutes. Cinematography was done by Zhao Xiaoding and editing by Cheng Long. The music was composed by Mei Linmao along with Lin Maoqing.
