Taal is a Bollywood romance film about the love story of Manav and Mansi, whose relationship is challenged when they meet Manavs family, and Mansi must choose between him and another man while discovering her fathers hidden past. Taal is a 1999 Indian Hindi-language Musical Romance movie starring Aishwarya Rai, Akshaye Khanna, Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Alok Nath, Amrish Puri and Asha Bacchani. Mukta Arts was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Subhash Ghai. Taal is written by Sachin Bhowmick, Subhash Ghai and Javed Siddiqui and it is directed by Subhash Ghai. Mukta Arts acquired the distribution rights for the film. Taal was released on 13th August 1999 and takes a screen time of 181 minutes. The Film was successful at box office. Taal was made on a budget of ₹15 crore and it was a hit at box office gross of ₹21 crore. The screenplay for the movie was written by Sachin Bhowmick and Subhash Ghai. Cinematography was done by Kabir Lal and editing by Subhash Ghai. The music was composed by Ar Rahman along with A. R. Rahman. At the 2000 IIFA Awards It won an award for Best Costume Designer. At the 2000 IIFA Awards It also won 5 awards including: Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Anil Kapoor), Best Supporting Actor (Anil Kapoor), Best Music Director, Best Playback Singer - Female and Best Lyricist.
