A popular singer struggling with addiction meets a budding artist and promises to help her succeed, but their relationship becomes strained due to his relapse and eventually ends with his suicide, leaving her to pursue her singing career as a tribute to him. Aashiqui 2 is a 2013 Indian Hindi-language Drama Musical movie starring Aditya Roy Kapur, Shraddha Kapoor, Mahesh Thakur, Shaad Randhawa, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Salil Acharya and Shekar Shukla. Vishesh Films in association with T-Series Films. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt. Aashiqui 2 is written by Shagufta Rafique and directed by Mohit Suri. T-Series Films acquired the distribution rights for the film. Aashiqui 2 was released on 13th December 2013 and takes a screen time of 134 minutes. The Film was successful at box office. Aashiqui 2 was made on a budget of ₹15 crore and it was a super hit at box office gross of ₹78 crore. Cinematography was done by Vishnu Rao and editing by Devendra A. Murudeshwar. The music was composed by Jeet Ganguly along with Jeet Gannguli, Mithoon, Ankit Tiwari and Raju Singh. At the 2014 IIFA Awards It won 4 awards including: Best Music Director, Best Lyricist, Best Playback Singer - Male and Best Playback Singer - Female.
