Yash Raj Films was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Aditya Chopra, Bharat S Shah, Yash Chopra and T. Subbarami Reddy. Chandni is written by Kamna Chandra, Umesh Kalbagh, Arun Kaul and Sagar Sarhadi and it is directed by Yash Chopra. Yash Raj Films acquired the distribution rights for the movie. Chandni was released on 14th September 1989. The Film was successful at box office. Chandni was made on a budget of ₹2 crore and it was a super hit at box office gross of ₹27 crore. The music was composed by Hariprasad Chaurasia along with Shiv Kumar Sharma and Shiv-hari. At the 1990 National Film Awards It won an award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.
