After struggling to adjust to life after being released as a POW from the Vietnam War, Eddie plans a bank robbery to provide for his mother and seek revenge on the system but faces obstacles and danger, until he is mistaken for a patriotic officer, leading to his escape with his lover and the stolen money and bonds.
