Neil Jordan s historical biopic of Irish revolutionary Michael Collins, the man who led a guerrilla war against the UK, helped negotiate the creation of the Irish Free State, and led the National Army during the Irish Civil War. Michael Collins is a 1996 American English-language Biography Drama motion picture featuring Liam Neeson, Aidan Quinn, Stephen Rea, Alan Rickman, Ian Hart, Julia Roberts and Karl Dawson. The Geffen Film Company in association with Warner Bros. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Stephen Woolley. The movie is written and directed by Neil Jordan. Warner Bros. acquired the distribution rights for the movie. Michael Collins was released on 6th March 1997 and takes a screen time of 132 minutes. Michael Collins was made on a budget of $25 million and at the box office it grossed only $11 million. Cinematography was done by Chris Menges and editing by J. Patrick Duffner and Tony Lawson. The music was composed by Elliot Goldenthal. At the 1996 Venice Film Festival It won an award for Best Actor (Liam Neeson).
