A seismologist and his colleague test an earthquake prediction model, but when an unknown fault ruptures and destroys the Hoover Dam, the seismologist discovers that the San Andreas Fault is shifting, posing a threat to cities along the fault line, and races to warn the population, while a pilot rescues his estranged wife from a skyscraper during a devastating earthquake and they face numerous challenges to rescue their daughter trapped in San Francisco during another earthquake, highlighting the resilience and determination of the characters in the face of natural disasters. New Line Cinema in association with Village Roadshow Pictures, RatPac-Dune Entertainment and Flynn Picture Co. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Beau Flynn and Tripp Vinson. San Andreas is written by Allan Loeb, Carey Hayes, Chad Hayes, Carlton Cuse, Andre Fabrizio and Jeremy Passmore and it is directed by Brad Peyton. Warner Bros. Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. San Andreas was released on 29th May 2015 and takes a screen time of 114 minutes. The Film was successful at box office. San Andreas was made on a budget of $110 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $474 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by Carlton Cuse.
