The movie is based on Midnight Express by Billy Hayes William Hoffer. Casablanca FilmWorks was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Alan Marshall and David Puttnam. Midnight Express is written by Oliver Stone and directed by Alan Parker. Columbia Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the film. Midnight Express was released on 10th August 1978 in English,Turkish and Maltese languages and takes a screen time of 121 minutes. and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released and became successful at box office. Midnight Express was made on a budget of $2 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $35 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by Oliver Stone.
