The story revolves around Narsingh, a taxi driver who loses his permit, becomes involved in smuggling and human trafficking, and finds redemption through his love for Neeli and rescuing Gulabi. Abhijaan is a 1962 Indian Bengali-language Drama film starring Soumitra Chatterjee, Waheeda Rehman, Ruma Guha Thakurta, Gnyanesh Mukherjee, Charuprakash Ghosh, Rabi Ghosh and Gadadhar Sen. The movie is based on Abhijan by Tarashankar Bandopadhyay. Banner Productions was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Abhijatrik. Abhijaan is written by Tarashankar Banerjee and Satyajit Ray and it is directed by Satyajit Ray. National General Television Distribution acquired the distribution rights for the movie. Abhijaan was released on 28th September 1962 and takes a screen time of 150 minutes. The screenplay for the movie was written by Satyajit Ray. Cinematography was done by Soumendu Roy. The music was composed by National Award winner Satyajit Ray.
