Samurai I: Musashi Miyamoto

After the battle of Sekigahara, Takezo and Matahachi are branded as enemies, seeking refuge with a widow and her daughter who have secretive ties to local bandits; Takezo fights off the bandits, rejects the advances of both women, and is falsely accused of assault by the widow who convinces Matahachi to accompany her and her daughter to Kyoto, leading Takezo to return to his village where he becomes hunted by lords men; meanwhile, Otsu, Matahachis fiancée, receives a false letter claiming he abandoned her, and Takezo is eventually captured but escapes with Otsus help, prompting them to flee together while being pursued and eventually leading to Takezo being imprisoned at Himeji Castle for three years, from where he is released and, taking the name Musashi Miyamoto, leaves in search of enlightenment while asking Otsu for forgiveness. Samurai I: Musashi Miyamoto is a 1954 Japanese Japanese-language film featuring Toshiro Mifune, Rentar Mikuni and Kuroemon Onoe. The movie is inspired from Miyamoto Musashi by Eiji Yoshikawa. Toho was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Kazuo Takimura. The movie is directed by Hiroshi Inagaki. Toho acquired the distribution rights for the film. Samurai I: Musashi Miyamoto was released on 26th September 1954 and takes a screen time of 93 minutes. The screenplay for the movie was written by Tokuhei Wakao and Hiroshi Inagaki. Cinematography was done by Jun Yasumoto. The music was composed by Ikuma Dan.
