During World War II, a British schoolboy named Jamie Jim Graham faces separation from his parents, encounters American expatriates, endures internment in a camp, befriends a Japanese teenager, witnesses the death of a friend, and is eventually reunited with his parents. Empire of the Sun is a 1987 American English-language Drama History motion picture starring John Malkovich, Miranda Richardson, Nigel Havers, Christian Bale, Joe Pantoliano, Leslie Phillips and Steve Bolan. The movie is inspired from Empire of the Sun by J. G. Ballard. Amblin Entertainment was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Kathleen Kennedy, Steven Spielberg and Frank Marshall. Empire of the Sun is written by Tom Stoppard and directed by Steven Spielberg. Warner Bros. acquired the distribution rights for the movie. Empire of the Sun was released on 25th December 1987 in English,Japanese and Cantonese Chinese languages and takes a screen time of 154 minutes. The Film was successful at box office.
