An action-packed film Kaththi features Vijay, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Tota Roy Chowdhury, and Sathish. This 2014 Tamil film was written by AR. Murugadoss and directed by AR Murugadoss. Kaththi is a story about identical twins Jeevanandham and Kathiresan. Jeeva a social activist fights against an MNC company for restoring farming. While doing so he is shot by unknown people and his twin Kathiresan who is a criminal turns a crusader and fights for the issue. It was produced by K. Karunamoorthi and A. Subashkaran. It was tastefully captured by George C. Williams and edited by A. Sreekar Prasad. Anirudh composed the music. The coin fight scene shown in the film has been banned in Malaysia due to the violence involved in the scene. It was released on 22 October 2014 and has a running time of 161 minutes. The movie grossed ₹130 crores at the box office. The distribution rights were acquired by Ayngaran International and Eros International. A U certificate for the movie was provided by the Censor Board.
