A group of friars hide a dragon egg until a comet passes, a stable boy and the young dragon named Drake become protectors of the kingdom, and face off against Osric, who is revealed to be a rogue dragon seeking revenge. Dragonheart: A New Beginning is a 1999 English-language Action Adventure movie featuring Robby Benson, Christopher Masterson, Harry Van Gorkum, Rona Figueroa, Matt Hickey, Henry O and Peter Olgyay. The movie is based on Dragonheart by Charles Edward Pogue Patrick Read Johnson. Universal Family & Home Entertainment Production was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Raffaella De Laurentiis. Dragonheart: A New Beginning is written by Shari Goodhartz and directed by Doug Lefler. Universal Studios Home Video acquired the distribution rights for the film.
