Greg Stuart is unhappy with his middle class family and their Christian values. In an attempt to estrange himself from the life he knows, he ends up in a spiral of confusing and troubling events. The Prodigal is a 1983 American English-language Drama movie starring Edmund Purdom, Lana Turner, James Mitchell, Louis Calhern, Joseph Wiseman, John Hammond and Richard Willis. The movie is inspired from Parable of the Prodigal Son in Luke 15:11-32 of the Bible. MGM was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Charles Schnee. The Prodigal is written by Maurice Zimm, Joe Breen Jr. and Samuel James Larsen and it is directed by Richard Thorpe. MGM acquired the distribution rights for the film. The film has a running time of 112 minutes. Cinematography was done by Joseph Ruttenberg and editing by Harold F. Kress. The music was composed by Bronislau Kaper.
