A Greek philosopher in 391 AD faces political and social turmoil in Alexandria, focusing on her scientific research as conflict between Pagans and Christians arises, taking refuge in the Library of the Serapeum until it is destroyed, later facing opposition from Christians who forbid her from teaching, which ultimately leads to a tragic event where she is captured by a mob and her former slave chooses to end her life. Agora is a 2009 English-language Adventure Biography movie featuring Rachel Weisz, Max Minghella, Oscar Isaac, Ashraf Barhom, Michael Lonsdale, Rupert Evans and Andrew Hillsden. Tiger Aspect Productions was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Fernando Bovaira and Lvaro Augustin. Agora is written by Alejandro Amenabar, Mateo Gil and Alejandro Amen Bar and it is directed by Alejandro Amenabar and Alejandro Amen Bar. 20th Century Fox acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. Agora was released on 25th February 2010 and takes a screen time of 126 minutes. Agora was made on a budget of $70 million and at the box office it grossed only $39 million. Cinematography was done by Xavi Gim nez and editing by Nacho Ruiz Capillas. The music was composed by Dario Marianelli.
