The Cowboy and the Lady is a 1938 English-language Comedy Drama movie written by S.n. Behrman, Sonya Levien, Leo Mccarey, Frank R. Adams, Anita Loos, Robert Ardrey, Alan Campbell, Richard Connell, John Emerson, Howard Estabrook, Gene Fowler, Lillian Hellman, Frederick Lonsdale, Eddie Moran, Dorothy Parker, Robert Riskin and Frank Ryan. The movie is directed by H.c. Potter and H. C. Potter and produced by Samuel Goldwyn under the banner of Samuel Goldwyn Productions. A lonely socialite masquerades as a maid and meets an unpretentious, plain-spoken cowboy who is unaware of her true identity. The cowboy and the lady features Gary Cooper in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Merle Oberon, Patsy Kelly, Walter Brennan, Fuzzy Knight, Mabel Todd and Henry Kolker. The screenplay is written by S.N. Behrman and Sonya Levien. The music was composed by Alfred Newman. Cinematography was done by Gregg Toland and editing by Sherman Todd. The motion picture has a running time of 91 minutes. The Cowboy and the Lady was made on a budget of $1 million. Distribution rights for the motion picture were acquired by United Artists. At the 1939 Oscar Awards It won an award for Best Sound, Recording.
