A driven college student, Jamilah, must reluctantly guide a group of wild white sorority girls in the art of stepping and help them win a dance competition in order to restore their schools reputation, all while pursuing her own goals. Los Angeles Media Fund was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Matt Alvarez, Simon Horsman, Benjamin Jones, Jeffrey Soros and Lena Waithe. Step Sisters is written by Chuck Hayward and directed by Charles Stone Iii. Netflix acquired the distribution rights for the film. Step Sisters was released on 19th January 2018 and takes a screen time of 108 minutes. Step Sisters was made on a budget of $10 million.
