In this film, a young boy named Krishna goes on a journey through various hardships, including working at a circus, becoming involved with thieves, getting a job at a tea stall, falling in love with a girl sold to a brothel, and ultimately facing tragedy as he tries to escape with her. Salaam Bombay is a 1988 Indian Hindi-language Crime Drama movie starring Shafiq Syed, Irrfan Khan, Raghuvir Yadav, Anita Kanwar, Nana Patekar, Chanda Sharma and Ali Bhai. Salaam Bombay was Produced by Mira Nair and Michael Nozik. Salaam Bombay is written by Hriday Lani, Mira Nair and Sooni Taraporevala and it is directed by Mira Nair. Alliance acquired the distribution rights for the movie. Salaam Bombay was released on 24th August 1988 and takes a screen time of 113 minutes. The Film was successful at box office. Salaam Bombay was made on a budget of ₹4 lakh and it was a super hit at box office gross of ₹74 lakh. The screenplay for the movie was written by Sooni Taraporevala. Cinematography was done by Sandi Sissel and editing by Barry Alexander Brown. The music was composed by L. Subramaniam. At the 1989 National Film Awards It won 2 awards including: Best Child Artist and Best Regional Film (Hindi). At the 1989 National Film Awards It also won an award for Best Feature Film in Hindi.
