A crime drama film set in the Mumbai underworld, Maqbool tells the story of a right-hand man torn between loyalty to his boss and love for his bosss mistress, leading to tragic consequences. Ltd. acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. Maqbool was released on 30th January 2004 and takes a screen time of 132 minutes. Maqbool was made on a budget of ₹3 crore and at the box office it grossed only ₹2 crore. The screenplay for the movie was written by Vishal Bhardwaj and Abbas Tyrewala. Cinematography was done by Hemant Chaturvedi and editing by Aarif Sheikh. The music was composed by National Award winner Vishal Bhardwaj. At the 2005 IIFA Awards It won 2 awards including: Best Dialogue and Best Screenplay. At the 2004 National Film Awards It also won an award for Best Supporting Actor (Pankaj Kapur).
