Columbia Pictures in association with Revolution Studios, 1492 Pictures and Tribeca Productions. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Jane Rosenthal, Robert De Niro, Chris Columbus, Mark Radcliffe and Michael Barnathan. Rent is written by Stephen Chbosky and Jonathan Larson and it is directed by Chris Columbus. Sony Pictures Releasing acquired the distribution rights for the film. Rent was released on 30th March 2006 and takes a screen time of 135 minutes. Rent was made on a budget of $40 million and at the box office it grossed only $31 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by Stephen Chbosky. Cinematography was done by Stephen Goldblatt and editing by Richard Pearson. The music was composed by Jonathan Larson.
