The film is written and directed by Priyadarshan Nair. Kanchivaram was released on 13th March 2009 and takes a screen time of 117 minutes. Cinematography was done by Tirru and editing by Arun Kumar. The music was composed by Mg Sreekumar along with M. G. Sreekumar. At the 2010 South Filmfare Awards It won 4 awards including: Best Actor (Prakash Raj), Best Supporting Actress (Shammu), Best Director and Best Cinematographer.
