Baarìa

The film depicts the lives of Peppino and Mannina, their families, and the entire community in Bagheria from the 1930s to the 1980s, exploring their relationships, dreams, and disappointments, while also highlighting the struggles faced during the Fascist period and World War II, including corruption and injustice by mafiosi and landowners, as well as showcasing subplots such as a young boys errand and Peppinos daughters rebellion against conservative views. Baarìa is a 2009 Sicilian-language Drama film starring Francesco Scianna, Margareth Mad, Abhimanyu Kashinath, Anant Nag and Rani. Medusa Film was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Tarak Ben Ammar. The film is written and directed by Giuseppe Tornatore. Medusa Distribuzione acquired the distribution rights for the film. Baarìa was released on 13th March 2009 and takes a screen time of 160 minutes. Baarìa was made on a budget of $30 million. Cinematography was done by Enrico Lucidi and editing by Massimo Quaglia. The music was composed by Ennio Morricone.
